Streets of Heaven

I don’t know – but I’ve been told

They say the streets of Heaven are lined with gold

Well, I’ve got a woman – she’s got long golden hair

She’s got a special place…

She says she gonna take me there

I learned you can’t believe what a sales-man say

It’s lying to you, that pays his way

He says that the streets of Heaven are lined with gold

I say the woman I bought…

Is just like the woman I sold

I can read the writing on the wall

I gave her my heart and she busted my balls

Now I’ve got a woman, and she don’t care at all

It seems the closer we get…

The further she makes me crawl

My hands slide slowly down the rope

The end grows near – I’ve lost hope

The chasm beckons – gaping below me

That’s how love goes…

Metaphorically
